PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of deficient power in an image reader having a function for obtaining power from an information processor through a connection cable. SOLUTION: The image reader 100 has a function for connecting with an information processor 250 through a connection cable 300 including communication lines and power lines. The image reader 100 charges a secondary battery 217 utilizing power supplied from the information processor 250 during an interval where image reading is not executed and obtains power from the secondary battery 217 and the information processor 250 during an interval where image reading is executed.
