PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery charger which timely prompts the user to charge the battery. SOLUTION: The charger determines whether the battery life is being shortened or not (S112) referring to the past charging history stored in a EEPROM 54. If it decides that the battery life is being shortened (112: Yes), it outputs a voice alarm 'Overcharging' for appropriate charging (S114). Thus, when the user repeats charging in a way to reduce the battery life, it advices the user to make appropriate charging.
