Coloring composition for skin and/or keratin fibers contains at least one pro-pigmentation enzyme, catalytic system consisting of salts and/or oxides of bivalent manganese and/or zinc and alkaline and/or alkaline earth hydrocarbonates, optional color precursor, and optional aminoacid with at least one SH group. Coloring composition for skin and/or keratin fibers contains: (1) at least one pro-pigmentation enzyme; (2) a catalytic system consisting of salts and/or oxides of bivalent manganese and/or zinc and alkaline and/or alkaline earth hydrocarbonates; (3) an optional color precursor comprising at least one aromatic cycle whose two consecutive C atoms carry at least two hydroxyl groups; and (4) an optional aminoacid with at least one SH group. The proportion of first and second components of the catalytic system are such that (Mn(II))/(HCO3) is up to 1, when (Mn(II)) is not 0; (Zn(II))/(HCO3) is up to 1 when (Zn(II)) is not 0; and (Mn(II) + (Zn(II))/(HCO3) is up to 1 when neither of (Mn(II)) and (Zn(II)) is 0, with (Mn(II)), (Zn(II)) and (HCO3) representing respectively molar concentrations of Mn(II), Zn(II) and (HCO3) in the composition. An Independent claim is also included for the process of coloration of skin and/or keratin fibers by applying a layer of the claimed composition.
