PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive identification information (image data, name, etc.), of other terminals and display the information on a display unit of a portable terminal, so that a user of the portable terminal can readily identify a terminal with which the user desires to communicate from a plurality of terminals existing in a radio range. SOLUTION: This portable terminal A sends an enquiry signal for searching a radio communication terminal B existing in a radio range to a radio unit 202. When an enquiry response signal responded from each radio communication terminal B is received by the radio unit 202, an identification number (terminal ID) unique to a terminal included in the response signal is stored in a storage unit 203. A control unit 201 successively fetches terminal ID one by one from the storage unit 203 and sends a request signal for identification information of the radio communication terminal B via the radio unit 202. When the radio unit 202 receives the request response signal responded from the radio communication terminal, the identification information (image data, name, etc.), included in the response signal is noticed to the control unit 201. The control unit 201 relates the identification information to the terminal ID and displays the identification information on a display unit 205.
