PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pick-up device which is capable of easily recovering an image from a microfilm even if an image file is erroneously deleted, where the image pick-up device sends data on a manuscript image read in through an image sensor to a host computer. SOLUTION: A scanner 113 possessed of a film image pick-up function is connected to a personal computer 111 serving as a host computer through the intermediary of a communication cable 112. Image data of a manuscript read in through the image sensor of the scanner 113 are transferred to the personal computer 111. At this point, information on the image data is obtained and stored in a designated film.
