PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a management device of document information for sorting properly the document elements contained in a document, specifying effectively the described parts of primary information of the document by means of sorting the document elements, extracting or retrieving the information of high accuracy and also sorting properly the unsorted documents. SOLUTION: A fact expression database 3 that defines the nounal or verbal expressions showing the facts contained in a document set and also defines sorting these expressions is referred to and a fact expression extraction means 13 extracts the appearance information on the expressions defined by the database 3 as an intra- document element fact expression information 6 by each document element of every document. A document element resemblance comparison means 14 compares resemblance of document elements of every document with each other by using the document element information 5 describing the information on the appearing positions of document elements and the information 6. A document element sorting decision means 15 sorts the document elements and then an information extraction means 16 extracts information with high accuracy by using the document element sorting and the fact expression information. Meanwhile, information is retrieved and documents are sorted in the same way.
