PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a life managing method of a secondary battery allowing more accurately discriminating of the life of the secondary battery under various conditions. SOLUTION: A backup current in a memory 5, a backup time, the nominal capacity of the secondary battery 2 and the temperature of the secondary battery 2 are acquired, and damage to the secondary battery 2 depending on the depth of discharging is calculated in accordance with the acquired information and the damages are cumulatively added to one another. If the cumulatively added damages are over a specified value, that the secondary battery 2 reaches its life is discriminated and that the secondary battery 2 reaches its life is notified. Service times for the secondary battery 2 are periodically acquired, and damages to the secondary battery 2 depending on the service times are calculated and further added to the cumulatively added values for the damages. Thus, that the secondary battery 2 reaches its service time life can be accurately discriminated.
