PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current limiter having a current limiting element which transits between superconduction and normal conduction, has less AC loss and fast operates. SOLUTION: The current limiter has at least the plate or film current limiting element transiting between superconduction and normal conduction, and a magnetic field applying mechanism applying the magnetic field parallel to a surface of the plate or film current limiting element.
