<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove effect of any external light due to high speed modulation by a linear image sensor. SOLUTION: This position detecting device equipped with a position indicator which emits, reflects, or interrupts a light, one or more light source units, and an optical unit which detects the incident direction of the light or shadow from the position indicator is provided with a first signal holding element group for holding the detection signals of the respective photodetectors of the photodetectors group in a prescribed timing, a second signal holding element group for holding the detection signals of the respective photodetectors of the photodetectors group in different timings, and a signal selecting element for selectively acquiring the signals of the differences of the signals of the first signal holding element group and the second signal holding element group in formats corresponding to the respective elements of the photodetectors group.</p> |
