PURPOSE: A control apparatus and method of a magnetic disc device, a recording medium, and an inspection apparatus and method of the magnetic disc device are provided to obtain accurate information on tracking position by separating noise from burst signals. CONSTITUTION: The head position is detected by a position detector(103), and noise level superposed on the head position is measured by a noise measuring unit(110). The estimate position gain corresponding to the measured noise level is determined by a gain determining unit(111). An estimator(106) adds the logically calculated model position to the result of the difference between the detected position and the model position multiplied by the estimate position gain. Therefore, the estimate position is calculated at high precision. Tracking of the magnetic head is performed by burst signals detected from the magnetic head. Tracking position information is obtained accurately with separating noise from burst signals.
