PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ASE light source that can efficiently generate large- output ASE light. SOLUTION: This ASE light source generates the ASE light (amplified spontaneous emission light) L2 when exciting light L1 is made incident on an EDFA (rare-earth-doped optical fiber) 1. In the light source, a half mirror 8 is positioned to either one of both ends of the EDFA 1, and a monitor PD 4 for APC is positioned to one end of the mirror 8. The ASE light L2 generated by means of the EDFA 1 is measured by reflecting part of the light L2 emitted to the side opposite to the emitting end by the half mirror 8 so that the part may be made incident again on the EDFA 1 and the other part of the light L2 to pass through the half mirror 8 toward the monitor 4. |
