PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character recognition device which processes recognition efficiently and has high accuracy of recognition. SOLUTION: When the writing speed of handwriting which is inputted on a tablet for handwriting input character is fast (S2: NO), online recognition (S11) and offline recognition (S13) are processed. The result of the recognition is integrated (S15), and it is displayed as an object of he recognition (S7). When the writing speed of handwriting is slow (S2: YES), according to the setting (S3), online recognition (S4) or offline recognition (S8) is processed, and the result is displayed as an object of the recognition.
