The equipment for drying organic material, preferably domestic food waste, involves the material being broken down into small pieces which are placed in a container and fluid separated from them. A treatment chamber is involved shaped as a horizontal cylinder. In the lower part of the chamber is an air gap (14) extending over the width of the chamber.
