PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal vapor discharge lamp and a manufacturing method for a metal vapor discharge lamp in which a dispersion of an electrical characteristic of the metal vapor discharge lamp is reduced, a welding of a stopper, etc., is not required, a yield of a seal step can be enhanced, an electrode mount step is simplified and a cost reduction can be realized. SOLUTION: An electrode 12 impregnated and coated with an emissive material is sealingly attached to both ends of an arc tube 11 made of quarts glass and a metal foil 15 is connected to one end of the electrode 12 to sealingly constitute it. A tungsten coil is wound, in duplex winding, on an electrode core rod 18 of the electrode and an extension part 21 integrally extended from an outer end of an inner coil 20 of the wound tungsten coil in duplex winding at an interval is formed. A quarts bead 14 having a larger inner diameter than the electrode core rod and a size through which the extended and formed inner coil is not passed is fitted with the electrode core rod.
