PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-reading device that stably runs a manuscript sheet, and at the same time effectively removes static electricity stored in the manuscript sheet, a transport passage, and a pair of transport rollers without adversely affecting the image to be read by distortion and halation. SOLUTION: The image-reading device for reading images on both sides of the manuscript sheet that is carried by an automatic manuscript supply means for delivering the manuscript sheets being placed on a manuscript acceptance tray one by one comprises first and second image sensors 9 and 28 for reading each of both the front and rear of the manuscript sheet, first and second platens 6 and 7 for supporting each face while sliding on each surface, and a backup guide 39 for guiding the manuscript sheet to be carried to the side of the first platen. Also, at least one portion of the manuscript transport side of the backup guide adjacent to the upstream side of the manuscript sheet transport path is composed by a grounded conductive member.
