PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IEEE1394 bus monitoring device capable of fetching data through an IEEE1394 bus without omission without using a special extra circuit. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a physical layer IC for converting the logic signals of packets through the IEEE1394 bus to electric signals, a link layer IC for controlling data transfer between the physical layer IC and a CPU, the CPU for processing the data and a capture memory for storing the data. The CPU reads the data of the reception buffer of the ling layer IC and compares them with an expected pattern while operating the link layer IC in a snoop mode, and in the case that both of the data match, the data are transferred to the capture memory and stored by DMA.
