The present invention provides methods and compositions for scre ening, diagnosis and prognosis of BAD, for monitoring the effectiveness of BAD treatment, and for drug development. BAD-Associated Features (DFs), detectable by two-dimensional electrophoresis of cerebrospinal fluid, serum or plasma are described. The invention further provids BAD-Associated Protein Isoforms (DPIs) detectable in cerebrospinal fluid, serum or plasma, preparations comprising isolated DPIs, antibodies immunospecific for DPIs, and kits comprising the aforesaid.
