The connection method has the adjacent body parts (3,5) held together so that corresponding flanges (7,10; 7',10') of the body parts overlap, via a clamping device (16), before connecting the flanges together via point welding. The clamping device is removed before laser welding the flanges together and trimming of the welded flanges.
