PURPOSE: A printing method for a multicolor image forming device is provided to realize a high-quality printing mode using a small-sized capacity of memory by receiving image data prepared in an external device continuously, dividing image data according to each color in accordance with an order being stored in a memory, and printing the image data successively. CONSTITUTION: If a printing command is inputted by a user(S1), a computer divides image data of each color(S2), and transmits the divided image data to a color printer continuously(S3). The image data are converted into dither process data or binary-coded data. The converted image data are compressed by a compander and stores in an image memory successively(S4). If image data of one color are stored in an image memory(S5), a CPU transmits image data of a designated color to a print engine(S6) and executes a printing process by outputting a printing beginning signal to a printer engine(S7). If a printing job with respect to image data of one color is completed(S8), the CPU stops a printing job(S9) and checks whether printing jobs with respect to image data of all colors are completed(S10).
