<p>Disclosed is an ion exchange illite having the following formula: (Al1.875Fe0.055Mg0.018) (Al0.55Si3.45)O10(OH)2(Na¿0.0446-X? ΔηK0.61-Z).nH2O wherein Δ is Ag; X is 0.0001 to 0.0446; Y is 0.0001 to 0.6546; Z is 0.0001 to 0.61; and n is 0.1 to 20. In a mineralogical aspect, the ion exchange illite has a three-layered (mica) imbricate structure with particle size of 0.5 to 2 νm and specific surface area of 9493 cm?2¿/ml, the ion exchange illite being insoluble in water, organic solvents and alkali. The ion exchange illite is prepared by a method including: sufficiently dispersing 1 g of a natural illite in 10 to 50 ml of distilled water with stirring; adding 0.1 to 3.0 N sodium hydroxide to neutralize the dispersed natural illite to approximately pH 7.0; adding 0.0195 to 0.02 g of a 0.1 to 3.0 N aqueous silver nitrate solution with stirring at the room temperature for 6 to 24 hours to prepare an aqueous illite solution; subjecting the aqueous illite solution to solid-liquid separation; and drying the separated solid in air at 25 to 120 °C for 2 hours.</p> |
