Fence comprises vertical posts (4) arranged at intervals along the course of the fence. Each post has at least one pair of parallel vertical bars (6, 6') arranged a distance (A) apart on the side facing the fence surface. Lattice panels (1, 1') form the fence surface. At least one holding element (10) holds each lattice panel to the side (9) of the post facing it. The distance (A) corresponds to the length of a component of the holding element in the direction of the course of the fence. The component fits between the bars. A further component seizes the rods on their surface facing away from the fence surface.
