An optical element (100), so formed that a protrusion (130D) is formed on one plane (100U) of an approximately rectangular parallelepiped, has a base material (substrate) (101) and a lens (102) that are mutually different in refractive index. The base material (101) has on its base plane (100B) an almost axially-symmetric recess (101B). The recess (101B) has filled therein an optical material different in refractive index from the base material (101) to form the lens (102). A flat portion (103E) is formed around the protrusion (103D). Symmetry axes of the protrusion (103D) and the recess (101B) of the base material (101) are positioned on approximately the same line and are almost vertical to flat portions (103E), (101C).
|
