The invention relates to a method for controlling the tracking of a scanning device (1) and a drive (5) therefor. Said method permits improved control of the detection of damage to the surface of a storage medium (10) that has been introduced to be scanned. According to said method, a measured position of the scanning device (1) in relation to a storage medium (10) that has been introduced into the drive (5), is compared with a predetermined position. Depending on the result of the comparison, at least one actuator (15) is driven in such a way that the scanning device (1) is displaced towards the predetermined position. Damage to a surface of the introduced storage medium (10) that is to be scanned is identified by at least one error detector (20). If any damage of this type is detected, a manipulated variable of the actuator(s) (15) for adjusting the position of the scanning device (1) is maintained at a predetermined value for a first predetermined time. |
