A decoder system suitable for use in a digital video reproduction system. The decoder system includes a removable data storage medium having a sufficient storage capacity to store digital data indicative of a sequence of images to be displayed. The decoder system includes first and second data buses. The decoder system includes a first interface for receiving the data from the storage medium and being coupled to the storage medium and the first data bus. The decoder system includes a plurality of computer processors interconnected and communicable with one another via the second data bus, for receiving the received data from the interface via the first bus and for decoding the received digital data to form a sequence of frames. The decoder system includes a second interface for receiving the sequence of frames from the plurality of processors via the first bus and converting the sequence of frames into a format suitable for transmission to a display device. |
