A method for connecting the butting ends of conveyor belt sections has lines of interdigitated tags (4) and a connecting bar (7). The tags are secured to the belt core by clamps (15) which are threaded through the belt and which also clamp tensile sections (12) to each side of the belt. The tensile sections have a similar thickness as the cover layers (11,16) of the belt and are positioned onto the core after a corresponding section of cover layer is removed. This ensures that the connection has a similar thickness as the rest of the belt and does lead to any increase in resistance or increase in wear. |
