The valve arrangement (1) has a distributing valve, a protection device and a device for feeding the hydraulic medium flowing out of the raising side of the load (2) to the lowering side in a position for lowering an object. The valve arrangement can be used to hold back the hydraulic medium flowing out of the raising side off the load and to feed it to the lowering side.
