<p>A connector (50) for the connection of a coaxial cable (20) to a printed circuit board (10) is disclosed. The connector (50) comprises a connector insulating housing (90) having a plurality of signal contacts (100) and a plurality of ground contacts (110) disposed therein. The signal contacts (100) are connected to the signal-carrying conductor (30) of the cable (20) and the ground contacts are connected to the ground conductor (14) of the cable (20). A plurality of openings (120) are formed in the rear face (80) of the insulating housing (90) and a plurality of signals legs (60) electrically connected to the plurality of signal contacts (100) protrude from the plurality of openings (120). One end the signal legs (60) is connectable to signal tracks (12) on the printed circuit board (10). Similarly a plurality of ground legs (70', 70'') connected to the plurality of ground contacts (110) also protrude from the plurality of openings (120). One end of the plurality of ground legs (70', 70'') is connectable to ground tracks (14) on the printed circuit board (10). A mating assembly (175) is mated with the connector (50) which provides a high frequency, low profile interconnection between the coaxial cable (20) and the printed circuit board (10).</p> |
