The electronic lock system (10) has a handgrip (14) fitted to a door panel and provided with a pivoted lever (16), supported by an axis (20) parallel to the door panel and a modular locking device (26) cooperating with the pivoted lever, for preventing its operation. The locking device has a base module fitted into an opening of the handgrip and provided with a locking bolt (28) for the pivoted lever and a battery for providing the electrical energy for operation of the locking bolt, together with an application module with a cover concealing the end of the base module and projecting into an opening in the free end of the pivoted lever.
