Tertiary divinyl ethers with two vinyl ether groups attached to tertiary carbon atoms separated by a 1-12C alkylene chain. Tertiary divinyl ethers of formula (I) with two vinyl ether groups attached to tertiary carbon atoms separated by a 1-12C alkylene chain. R<1> - R<4> = 1-20C alkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl or phenyl (all optionally substituted with alkyl or cycloalkyl), or R<1> and R<2> or R<3> and R<4> together may be 2-11C alkylene (optionally substituted as above); R<5>, R<6> = H, 1-20C alkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl or phenyl (all optionally substituted as above); and X = alkylene with 1-12 CH2 groups. An Independent claim is also included for a method for the production of (I) by reacting tertiary di-alcohols, R<1>R<2>C(OH)-X-C(OH)R<3>R<4> (II) with acetylenes, R<5>-C equivalent to C-R<6> (III) in the liquid phase in presence of basic catalysts.
