The device has an exhaust gas turbocharger (2) and a compound working turbine coupled to the crankshaft. The turbocharger has an exhaust gas turbine (3) in the exhaust system (4) and a compressor (5) in the induction system (6). The compound working turbine (11) is arranged downstream of the exhaust gas turbine in the exhaust system. An adjustable exhaust gas feedback device (10) is arranged between the exhaust system and the induction system.
