SOLUTION: When an accelerator is fully closed in a running state where the engine rotation speed is higher than a first engine rotation speed, this control device 12 for the multicylinder engine 1 cutting the fuel in a running state where the accelerator is fully closed, starts the full cylinder fuel cut, or the fuel cut of the whole cylinders. When the accelerator is fully closed in a running state where the engine rotation speed is the first engine rotation speed or less and is higher than a second engine rotation speed, the control device starts a partial cylinder fuel cut, or the fuel cut of partial cylinders. In the multicylinder engine performing the stratified combustion in the low-load and low-rotation speed region, the fuel cut starting/finishing rotation speeds are finely set.
