<p>The tube cutter (10) comprises a housing (12) with first and second parallel rollers (50, 52) defining a cradle for receiving a tube to be cut with the tube axis generally parallel to the axes of the rollers (50, 52), a cutter head (14) reciprocally mounted on the housing (12) for sliding linearly in a direction toward and away from the rollers (50, 52), the cutter head (14) having a base (70) and an upstanding arm (80) supporting a cutter wheel (16) rotatable about an axis generally parallel to the axes of the rollers and facing the tube in the cradle, a spring element (20, 22) biasing the cutter wheel (16) in the stated direction and toward the rollers (50, 52), and a threaded shaft (120) between the housing (12) and cutter head (14), and rotatable to move the cutter head (14) linearly toward the housing (12), whereby the cutter wheel (16) engages the tube and the spring element (20, 22) creates a cutting force pushing the cutter wheel (16) against the tube for cutting the tube. <IMAGE></p> |
