PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the variation of concentricity and use a method for a coated heating rod in the method for connecting the heating rod (1) of a glow plug to a glow plug main body (2). SOLUTION: A radial force is exerted on the glow plug main body (2) to carry out an axially symmetrical press-fit between the heating rod (1) and the glow plug main body (2). For instance, while the heating rod (1) is held in the center of the main body (2), the press-contact area (3) of the main body (2) on the heating rod (1) is pressed to carry out the axially symmetrical press- fit. The press-contact operation is performed in a substantially intermediate part in the area of the heating rod (1) located in the main body (2). The press- contact operation can be performed by a well-known press-contact device having six press-contact claws 6 and six feather keys.
