PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-VOC water-base coating composition which is excellent in storage stability, can maintain sufficient film-forming properties over a long period of time by adding a small amount of a film-forming aid thereto, and can form a film excellent in stain resistance. SOLUTION: The coating composition comprises mainly an emulsion of a synthetic resin having a reactive silyl group, with a Tg of -20 to 10 deg.C, and a polysiloxane compound having a polyoxyalkylene chain with one hydroxyl terminal and having a hydroxyl number of 5-150 KOH mg/g, and contains at most 1% of a volatile organic compound (VOC) having a boiling point under a normal pressure of 250 deg.C or lower.
