PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device and a driving method therefor permitting to attain high definition and high brightness, improve the visibility of display in black, and further reduce power consumption. SOLUTION: A part of a sustaining operation in a sustained period of a 3rd sub-field SF3, an initializing operation in the sustaining-erasing-initializing period IE of a 4th sub-field SF4, or the like are performed at the same time, and also sustaining discharge is performed in all the sub-fields in and after the sub-field where write discharge has been performed among the 1st-3rd sub- fields.
