PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shampoo cosmetic that causes no creaky sensation in the hair, when the hair is washed and/or rinsed, and gives the hair after drying flexibility and smoothness. SOLUTION: The objective shampoo composition comprises 1-50 pts.wt. of an amide amino oxide represented by formula (1) (wherein R1 is a 7-21C alkyl or alkenyl; R2 and R8 are each unsubstituted or hydroxy, a substituted 1-5C alkyl or alkenyl; n is 1-5; R4 is a 12-24C alkyl), 0.01-5 pts.wt. of a higher alcohol represented by formula (2) and, when necessary, a quaternaty nitrogen-including cationic substance and/or and anionic or ampholytic surfactant.
