PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus where a pressure roller is not soiled by toner or a sheet is not soiled by accumulated toner regardless of factors such as toner physical properties, the pre-rotation temperature control period, the fixing temperature, and the rotational frequency of the pressure roll. SOLUTION: A pre-rotation temperature control period for which a heater 91 is heated before the arrival of a recording material P at a fixing nip part N is denoted as t1, and the temperature at which >=70% of toner stuck to a film 92 is held is denoted as T1 when fixed temperature control is performed. Temperature control is performed at the temperature T1 or lower at least in one stage for a period t2>=t1×0.4. Alternatively, the temperature control is so performed that >=20% of toner stuck to the film is left even after the pre-rotation temperature control has been performed.
