PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chrome plating sliding member without generating periodic lowering of wear resistance and seizure resistance, even if a multilayer hard chrome plating film is not intentionally folded and formed. SOLUTION: This sliding member is provided with the multilayer hard chrome plating film on a sliding surface of a base material 1. In each of hard chrome plating layers 2, 3, 4 and 5, fine cracks 6 opened t external surface sides of the hard chrome plating layers 2, 3, 4 and 5 are distributed, and the fine cracks 6 of each of the hard chrome plating layers 2, 3, 4 and 5 include comparatively shallow parts 6a with bottom parts stopping within a single layer and comparatively deep parts 6b and 6c passing through two or more layers. The details of fine crack amount shown in an area ratio of the fine cracks 6 in cross section of the hard chrome plating film is as follows: 1.5 to 35.0% of the parts stopping within the single layer, 0.5 to 25.0% of the parts passing through the two or more layers and 2.0 to 40.0% of the whole fine crack amount. |
