PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to accurately discriminate the quality of a display area. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal(LC) substrate supporting device includes a base provided with a backlight unit having a 1st light passing area on the upper part, a receiving means arranged on the base in order to receive an LC substrate and provided with a light diffusion plate opposed to the 1st light passing area and a mask formed by a light non-transmitting material, arranged on the light diffusion plate and having plural 2nd light passing areas corresponding to the display area of the LC substrate to be inspected.
