PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device equipped with a display part for displaying a video and an enlarging optical system and used before a face, and capable of providing a wide-field and high-definition video though it is small in size and light in weight and also inexpensive. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a liquid crystal panel as the display part. By illuminating the liquid crystal panel from different directions by two light emitting diodes, video light showing a displayed video is emitted in two directions. Then, the device is equipped with a hologram element or a mirror for guiding the video light emitted in two directions to an eye through different optical paths as the enlarging optical system. The two videos are alternately displayed on the liquid crystal panel and also the two light emitting diodes are alternately made to emit light synchronizing with the switching of the display, and the video light showing the two videos is guided alternately to the eye from the different optical paths.
