PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quantitative determination method of carbon monoxide for accurately determining the concentration of carbon monoxide that coexists with nitrogen, without being affected by other carbon compounds. SOLUTION: A drift voltage is controlled for causing dissociation of C+ ions from the carbon compounds, concentration (Cac) of all carbon compounds is obtained from the ionic strength of the C+ ions, concentration (Cc) of the carbon compounds other than carbon monoxide is obtained from the total of remaining ionic strength obtained by subtracting the ionic strength of the number of masses originating from nitrogen, oxygen, and water from mass spectra obtained by scanning over a wide range of mass numbers, and the concentration (Cc) is subtracted from the total carbon compound concentration (Cac), thus enabling calculation of the concentration of carbon monoxide.
