PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor for water level detection with no malfunction in detection of a water level. SOLUTION: This sensor has a pair of rod electrodes 2, 3 and a holder 4. A pair of rod electrodes 2, 3 is immersed in water, detects the water level by variation of resistance values between the electrodes, and is held in the holder 4. The holder 4 has a base part 5, a boss part 6, and a shielding part 12. The base part 5 is a part closely pressed against a tank 8 filled with water, the boss part 6 is a part supporting a pair of rod electrodes 2, 3 inserted into the tank 8, and the shielding part 12 is a pair of barriers 13 formed in the boss part 6. Water level detecting parts LD of a pair of rod electrodes 2, 3 are exposed from the boss part 6 to the outsides of the barriers 13 and separated each other with a pair of barriers 13, 13. A pair of barriers 13, 13 prevents the continuity of a pair of rod electrodes 2, 3 caused by water drops attached to the sensor when the water level within the tank 8 lowers from a specified water level.
