<p>A digital receipt (e-receipt) having various transaction data is generated after a consumer transaction by a retail terminal or via a public or private electronic network. Certain or selective transaction data from the digital receipt is forwarded to a third party to the consumer transaction. The third party has an interest in obtaining the certain or selective transaction data for statistics, transaction/product purchase confirmation, tax data, or the like. Exemplary transaction data includes: tax data to a government/agency for fiscalization or an audit trail; item purchase data to a government/agency for complying with a government/agency program (e.g. Food Stamps or WIC); and/or purchased pharmaceutical items to a doctor who generated the prescription. A digital receipt (e-receipt) that is generated after a consumer transaction by a non-retail business or location may be forwarded to the consumer or third party via e-mail. The digital receipt is forwarded to the consumer or third party either directly from the point of the transaction or indirectly via a data warehouse, clearing center or the like depending on the nature of the purchase transaction. <IMAGE></p> |
