PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic converter capable of restraining the occurrence of shifting to the exhaust emission flow direction both between a catalyst case and a support holding material and between the support and the support holding material even if great exhaust pressure is applied to the support so as to suitably hold the support. SOLUTION: In this catalytic converter 1, the support 3 wound by the support holding material 4 is accommodated in the catalyst case 2. The catalyst case 2 is made of metal, and the outer surface of the support 3 constitutes a tapered surface C reduced in diameter as it goes toward the downstream in the exhaust emission flow direction. The support holding material 4 is shaped corresponding to the tapered surface C, and interposed between the inner surface of the catalyst case 2 and the outer peripheral surface. |
