PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device which can realize the stability of a development, and the improvement of an image quality without requiring the delicate adjustment of the component of a developer. SOLUTION: The developing device has a developing roll 41 which carries a developer on its surface, a developer regulating member 43 which regulates the thickness of the developer, and an electrostatic charge amount controlling member to control electrostatic charge amount of the developer. The controlling member makes the developer fly on the developing roll 41 by an AC voltage applied between the developing roll 41 and the controlling member. An electric charge generated by the electrolytic dissociation of a gas by the AC voltage is given to control the charge amount of the developer. |
