摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the driving method of an AC-type plasma display panel, which can always suppress luminance inversion between gradations without depending on APL. SOLUTION: When the total number of maintaining pulses is large (black square), the rate of the number of maintaining pulses in high-order SF is made to be relatively higher than the lower one in the case (black rhombus) that the total number of maintaining pulses is small. When the large number of maintaining pulses is selected, there is a problem in a conventional driving method a luminance that inversion phenomenon can happen where measured higher luminance becomes lower due to the luminance saturation of MSB although the sum of the number of maintained pulses on selection SF in the high gradation level is higher than the gradation level lower by one at the time of expressing the prescribed gradation level. By the new method, when the larger number of maintaining pulses is selected, the number of maintained pulses in a high-order subfield is made to be much higher than the lower one. Thus, the difference of the total number of maintained pulses between the gradation levels becomes larger than the conventional driving method so that luminance inversion can be prevented.
