PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an iron based high rigidity material having high rigidity so as to satisfy the Young's modulus of >=210 GPa and further capable of stably exhibiting excellent toughness by attaining the fine uniformization of dispersed compounds and to provide a useful method for producing the same iron based high rigidity material. SOLUTION: In a pseudo-binary phase diagram of an iron based metal and the above dispersed compounds, when the volume fraction of the compounds in the composition in which the liquidus temperature is made the lowest one is defined as X(%), the volume fraction of the above compounds occupied in the iron based high rigidity material lies in the range of (X-5) to (X+3)(%), further, the ratio of the ones with a grain size of <=8μm in the compounds is >=80% by volume fraction, also, the concentration of oxygen in the iron based high rigidity material is <=50 ppm, moreover, the average of the measured values in a Charpy impact test performed by 10 or more test pieces at an ordinary temperature is >=110 J/cm2, and the lowest value in the above measured values is >=50% of the above average value.
