PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical gas compression technique capable of restraining, to the utmost, the fluctuation of thrust power applied to a movable scroll according to the pressure variation of a gas in a scroll type compressor. SOLUTION: The movable scroll substrate 24 of a scroll type compressor 1 is provided with a communicating hole 60 by which a compression chamber 32 is communicated with an intermediate pressure chamber 77 within a prescribed period among the compression process of the compression chamber 32. For example, at the timing of maximum pressure differential between the compression chamber 32 and the intermediate pressure chamber 77, a refrigerant gas in the chamber 77 is transferred to the chamber 32 according to the above pressure differential, thus reducing the thrust power acting on the back face of the movable scroll substrate 24.
