PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an equipment operation rate. SOLUTION: This automatic take-up motion 14 for a linear material is provided with a crane 18 for transporting an empty spool 10 set onto an empty spool receiver 17 of a spool supply part 16, into a winding position. When the spool 10 is set into the winding position, the spool 10 is held by spool holding arms 24, 26, and the tip part of a cord 12 is inserted in a cord insertion hole formed in the spool 10, to start winding. When winding is completed, the end part of the cord 12 is held by a clip 20 provided at the spool 10, and the cord 12 is fused. A product lifting machine 54 then moves the held spool 10 into a start position of a following process.
