PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a monochrome display to be of high gradations by using sub-pixels, and also to provide a method and device for displaying a picture suppressing an increase in an data amount to be stored associated therewith. SOLUTION: When a picture is displayed with picture data having the different numbers of gradations stored in one sub-pixel and the other pixels for the picture data corresponding to each sub-pixel of the monochrome display having a sub-pixel structure, display data for each sub-pixel is generated using the stored picture data, and the picture is displayed on the monochrome display by using the display data, thereby solving the problem of the increase of the amount of data.
